Rooms
The farmhouse has an abundance of space to relax and we hope all of our guests will treat it as a real home from home. There is a library with books, games and daily newspapers; a fully stocked honesty bar for guests to mix their own drinks; the drawing room overlooking the terrace and garden restaurant.
The site is 7 acres in total and we encourage guests to wander the gardens and woodlands, where there are a multitude of secluded spots to enjoy in peace including our beautiful kitchen garden, children’s playground & outdoor heated swimming pool.
There is a simple room service menu available throughout the day until 10pm and 8.30pm on Sundays.
Our Dinner, Bed & Breakfast rate is returning October to February. Monday to Thursday this includes a stay for 2, our 3 course seasonal set menu for dinner & a continental breakfast. On Sundays our restaurant is only open for lunch, so this will inside our 3 course Sunday set menu for lunch instead.

Our room rates are inclusive of continental breakfast from anytime between 8am-10am. Out of hours, takeaway breakfasts or room service is available by prior arrangement.
We will always hold a table in the restaurant for our hotel guests, if you note your preferred dining times when booking under ‘Guest comments’ we will do our best to accommodate.
We do a full à la carte menu restaurant service for lunch and dinner Monday – Saturday.
Monday – Friday lunch as well as Monday & Tuesday dinner we also have a 3 course set menu available for £35.
On Wednesday nights we cook a Steak Night menu alongside our à la carte, priced at £30 per person.
On Sunday evenings we are closed to the public so, for Sunday check-ins we’ll usually suggest lunch any time between 12 and 4pm if you’d like to experience the Conservatory restaurant. For guests of the house we offer a room service menu on Sunday evenings.
We welcome well-behaved dogs here at Updown in most of the hotel rooms as well as in the restaurant. There’s plenty of land for them to roam around in and explore.. all we ask is for a one-off payment of £50 to cover additional deep cleaning after their stay! Please note you’ll need to let us know you’d like to bring your dog when making a reservation.
We unfortunately cannot accommodate dogs in The Stables 7 or Room 11.
Children of all ages are welcome with an additional child’s bed option available to select in any of our Superking rooms or Fig Tree Cottage. An extra bed charge of £70 per night applies. Children of any age are welcome to dine with us here at Updown, and we have an under 12s menu available in the restaurant. While it does vary throughout the week, pasta with tomato sauce and cheese omelettes are a mainstay for those who aren’t quite ready to taste our usual hyper-seasonal Italian leaning a la carte menu.
Cots are available free of charge in most of our rooms, just let us know when booking so we can have everything ready for you on arrival.
