Updown is a family run hotel and restaurant housed in a 17th century farmstead just outside of Deal, a pretty seaside town in Kent, South East England. The house contains four luxuriously appointed guest rooms, with a swimming pool and three cosy cottages scattered around the grounds. The conservatory restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Monday to Saturday, and for breakfast and lunch on Sunday.
Updown Farmhouse has ten bedrooms to choose from. Four in the main house, two with king size beds and two with super king beds. The Stables are a beautifully converted run of compact rooms which all open straight out onto the gardens. While Gardener’s Cottage and Fig Tree Cottage are set in the grounds.
All rooms are currently available to book Monday to Sunday inclusive. Breakfast is served in the restaurant or outside on the terrace. We will keep a table in the restaurant for all guests joining us for a hotel stay.
All of our food and drink comes from a small selection of the best local and European suppliers. Sausages and bacon from The Black Pig in Deal; seasonal veg is a mix of the Goods Shed, Merchant of Relish, Walmastone Growers and La Sovrana; fish comes from Jenkins and Son fishmonger and our meat comes from butcher HG Walter in West London.
Our beautiful kitchen garden is tended to by our gardeners, Rachel and Vanessa, and groundskeepers, Dan and Robin. It is open for guests to explore and even enjoy a sundowner among the beds.
