Restaurant

Our magical conservatory restaurant is set amid Updown’s rambling grounds. Dine under the grape vines surrounded by beautiful 17th century brick and watch the chefs in the open kitchen tending to the wood fired grill and original farm house bread oven. The restaurant has been completely transformed by owners Ruth and Oli to be heated and fully enclosed and is open year round.

Breakfast:
Thursday – Sunday 8-10am

Lunch:
Friday & Saturday 12-3pm
Sunday 12-5pm

Dinner:
Monday – Tuesday 6-9.30pm (July & August only)
Wednesday – Saturday 6-9.30pm

  • On Sunday nights we serve a room service menu for hotel guests.
  • On Wednesday nights we cook a Steak Night menu in place of our à la carte, priced at £30 per person.
  • On Thursday nights we cook an Ultimate Roast Chicken menu in addition to our a la carte menu, priced at £30 per person.
  • In July and August, the restaurant will be open on Monday and Tuesday evenings, serving a seasonal set menu priced at £40 per person.
  • We are open to the public for breakfast Thursday to Sunday 8-10am

Menus are small, hyper seasonal and use the best of local and European produce and change on regular basis to reflect what’s best. Everything is cooked over wood in the open kitchen. There is a short list of exciting wines of limited availability, local beers and seasonal cocktails.

Wine & Drinks

Our wine list is a mix of winemakers we’ve loved for years and some newer finds from smaller producers. It is very much influenced by the food with a heavy Italian influence mixed with some French and some locally produced wines.

Similarly our drinks list draws heavily on the Italian aperitivo tradition, with cocktails predominantly based on bitters and vermouths and non alcoholic drinks such as Crodino on offer. We use produce from the garden when in season for drinks such as a Lemon Verbena Spritz or Ginger Rosemary Sour.
