Christmas & New Year at Updown

December is a particularly special time at Updown. We like to go all out on the decorations, with a 21 foot Christmas tree in the offing and three more across the house and restaurant. Our Christmas lights switch on was a hot chocolate / mulled wine fuelled joy last year and we can’t wait for this year’s event. We have wreath making and festive napkin printing for those creating their own this year – no previous experience necessary! Returning this December is our Winter Solstice Supper – a candlelit dinner to see in the shortest day of the year.

Of course, the point of Christmas is celebrations, and we have a range of spaces available to book: our beautiful Private Dining Room is the perfect space for parties of four to 20; the Gatehouse with its own terrace is perfect for drinks parties and intimate dinners, and the Library can always be booked for drinks before dinner. The restaurant itself can accommodate up to 80 for a seated meal.

We’re staying as relaxed as possible this New Year’s Eve, with our full a la carte menu available in the restaurant, and no set menus to be seen. We’ll have cocktails available in the house drawing room and library for all guests, pre and post dinner.

We’re even serving lunch on New Year’s Day for everyone continuing the party, in need of a rather strong Bloody Mary or with children in tow.
